Eating Our Way Through Rome: Camelot on the Lake

Camelot on the Lake is located at the west end of Lake Camelot on a perfect piece of property affording some of the best lake views you’ll find anywhere.

Since they opened their doors in 2009, it has become a favorite hangout for locals and visitors alike. Certainly, the views have something to do with that, but it could also be because it has the perfect “up north” vibe with knotty pine paneling, timber framing, and overall “cabin feel” to the establishment.

Behind the bar is a selection of all your favorite mixers. Of course, you can order a traditional gin and tonic or an Old Fashioned, but why not ask your bartender to pour you a glass of fine wine? I don’t know about you, but that sounds pretty fancy to me. Although if beer is your style, they’ve got you covered there too - with a cooler spanning most of the back wall, filled with domestics, imports, and some choice local craft beers, just waiting for you to make up your mind. Oh yeah, and a nice selection of canned cocktails, hard ciders, and seltzers too. In other words, if it’s good, they got it!

Feeling hungry? You’ll be glad to know there’s just ten or fifteen minutes standing between you and a hot, delicious pizza. Seriously, they’re that good. Besides, who doesn’t like pizza and a beer? It’s like biscuits & gravy or macaroni & cheese; you just can’t have one without the other.

And this might be the best part; you can get to Camelot Bar from anywhere - by foot, car, boat, ATV, or snowmobile. I suppose you could even drop in by hot air balloon or helicopter if you had one.

No matter how you choose to get there, just be sure to get there. You’ll be glad you did.

Camelot on the Lake is located at 298 Leisure Lane in Rome, Wisconsin.
