Petenwell Flowage
Northern Pike, Bass, Walleye, Pan Fish, Musky, Catfish
Wisconsin’s 2nd largest body of water created by Wisconsin River Power Company in the 1940s by building a Hydroelectric Dam on the Wisconsin River. Petenwell Lake is part of the Wisconsin River Flowage. It is a man-made lake of 23,040 acres and a maximum depth of 48 feet. The dam on the lake is owned by the Wisconsin Power Company and is used to generate electricity.
Wisconsin River in Nekoosa
Annual Walleye Run, late March though April
As the ice recedes and the river warms, thousands of walleye migrate upstream toward the Nekoosa dam to spawn. Anglers from across the region flock to Nekoosa during this time, drawn to the chance to catch walleyes in the fast-moving waters. The rocky shallows and dam tailwaters create ideal conditions for both shore fishing and boat fishing, making it accessible to all skill levels.
Castle Rock Lake
Walleye, Musky, Panfish, Bass, White Bass, Northern Pike
A premier fishing destination known for its size (4th largest lake in Wisconsin), scenic shoreline and diverse fishery. Covering more than 16,000 acres, this flowage on the Wisconsin River offers anglers year-round opportunities. Multiple boat launches and public access points. Shore fishing is possible at parks and campgrounds. Castle Rock Lake is not only productive for anglers but also offers a classic Wisconsin experience - peaceful waters, wildlife and a vibrant community of fishermen.
Lake Sherwood
Panfish, Bass, Walleye, Northern Pike
243 surface acres in size. Maximum depth is 24 feet, with an average depth of 8 feet. Both Upper and Lower Camelot Lakes flow through dams into Sherwood Lake. Sherwood Lake flows through a dam into Arrowhead Lake. There is a public boat launch on Sherwood Lake on the southwest edge of the lake.
Lake Camelot
Panfish, Bass, Walleye, Northern Pike
Lower Camelot Lake is the first lake in the series, where Fourteen Mile Creek enters. Lower Camelot Lake is 260 surface acres, with a maximum depth of 24 feet and an average depth of 8 feet. Spring Branch Creek enters Upper Camelot Lake, which has 191 surface acres, a maximum depth of about 25 feet, and an average depth of 8 feet. A channel connects Lower Camelot Lake to Upper Camelot Lake. There is a public boat ramp located on southwest side of Lower Camelot Lake.
Lake Arrowhead
Bass, Panfish, Walleye, Northern Pike
350 surface acres in size. Maximum depth is 30 feet, with an average depth of 8 feet. The dam impounds Fourteen-Mile Creek downstream from the dams at Lower and Upper Camelot Lakes and Sherwood Lake, on its way to the Wisconsin River. There is a public boat ramp located on southwest side of the lake.
