Join us for our annual Easter Brunch Buffet (9:30 am - 12:30 pm). The past few years we filled up fast and had a waitlist so please don't wait to make your reservations. The restaurant will be open during this time for reservations only. If the golf course is open, the restaurant will re-open at 3:00 pm for normal menu service and the lounge will remain open all day. If the golf course is closed, the restaurant and lounge will close following our Easter Brunch reservations.

Due to the high amount of no-shows and day of cancellations we will be requiring a $25 deposit to hold your spot - this is non-refundable if you choose to cancel or no show.

This workshop will concentrate on cooking methods and foods used by our ancestors. It will be conducted by volunteer staff of Historic Point Basse with assistance from others who have expertise in a specific area.

Step up to the plate at UP North Brewery for a grand-slam cookie decorating class that’s sure to be a real home run! ⚾🍪 Whether you’re a rookie or a seasoned all-star, you’ll knock it out of the park as we pitch icing skills, steal sweet techniques, and round the bases with fun, baseball-themed designs. Batter up—this class is guaranteed to be a hit!

Blue House Cakery owner Kelly Lawler will be teaching the basics of cookie decorating, while taking you through step by step instructions of decorating an assortment of cookies! Each student will be provided with 6 cookies, and everything they need to decorate, as well as a box to take your cookies home in. A complimentary beverage is included with class! No previous experience is necessary. Aprons and short sleeve shirts recommended!

Those under the age of 18 are welcome to attend, but must be accompanied by an adult, and all attendees must have their own ticket. The appropriateness of age is up to the accompanying adult, knowing that classes are two hours long.

Tickets are nonrefundable. If you find yourself in a position where you are unable to attend, please feel free to sell your ticket or gift it to a friend or family member, then notify me of the change.

If class needs to be cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances or low attendance, I will do my best to reschedule with the facility at a later date and time. If you are unable to attend that rescheduled date, your registration fee will be refunded.

All items are prepared in a home based kitchen that is not subject to licensing or inspection. Though precautions are always taken - products do have the potential for cross contamination with common allergens such as nuts, gluten, soy, dairy, and eggs.

Cookie Ingredients: flour, sugar, butter, cream cheese, eggs, salt, vanilla extract

Harvest Fair @ Historic Point Basse

Celebrate the joys of autumn with a fun-filled event that promises to leave your taste buds tingling! Delight in the season’s bounty with tasty samples of delicious fall fare, featuring traditional harvest activities like apple cider pressing, corn shelling, making sauerkraut, and harvest produce sales. Foraging Class is offered during this event. You must sign up in advance.

Take a tour of the Wakely home, a beautifully preserved piece of history that will give you a glimpse into the lives of early settlers. Join in the fun by making your own pressed apple cider.

Step back in time and explore the many historic buildings at the event, each with their own unique demonstrations that will transport you to a bygone era. Marvel at the skill of the blacksmith as he expertly hammers away at glowing iron, or venture into the fur trade cabin and witness firsthand the frontier equipment used in the early days of exploration.

See how sauerkraut is made and visit the Columbia School to learn about the fascinating history of 1-room schoolhouses. With so much to see and do, this event is the perfect way to celebrate the magic of fall!

Historical Encampment @ Historic Point Basse

Travel back in time to experience the sights, sounds, and even the smells of 18th century life at a French outpost during the fur trade era. Witness skilled artisans demonstrating traditional crafts and trades that were essential for survival, from tanning hides to forging iron tools. Immerse yourself in the ambiance of the era as participants dressed in authentic reproductions of clothing worn by people from all walks of life in the 18th century. Be dazzled by the splendid and precise military drills of the French soldiers.

Take in the scents of the 18th century, from the sweet fragrances of kettles simmering over open fires to the pungent smell of wood smoke. Catch the whiff of molten lead, hot iron, and black powder mingling with the aroma of melting candle wax. Savor the flavors from another time as participants prepare traditional foods over an open fire, including parched wild rice with maple sugar, spiced apple cider, and roasted pumpkins filled with blueberries and cranberries. Get a taste of history as you experience life as it was lived centuries ago.

IT'S THAT TIME OF THE YEAR AGAIN!  The Wakely Sugar Bush at Historic Point Basse.  The art of cooking syrup was learned from the Native Americans soon after the Europeans landed on the American shores.  Learn about the historic making of maple syrup from experienced cooks.  Better yet, come and sample some fresh maple syrup for yourself along with homemade Buckwheat pancakes - just like the Wakelys used to have.

Friends of James Beard Chef Invitational

The Friends of James Beard Chef Invitational at Sand Valley is a way to have a little unexpected fun while the midwestern winter melts away. We’re bringing together some of the best chefs in the midwest for a weekend-long food affair that you simply cannot experience anywhere else. Historic Point Basse Winter Feast

Historic Point Basse invites you to Wakely's Winter Feast. 

This year's feast will be held on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at the Nekoosa Community Center, 416 Crestview Lane, Nekoosa, WI. 

The gathering is at 4:00 - the Feast will begin at 4:50 p.m.  The meal will consist of donated wild game and two domestic meats along with appetizers, side dishes, beverages, and dessert.  The evening will also include entertainment - a historic program, raffle baskets, a raffle quilt, and a silent auction. 

The evening will end with period dancing; music provided by Don and Ann Pawlak.  Early Bird tickets can be purchased at Family Natural Foods, Wisconsin Rapids, Daly Drug, Wisconsin Rapids, and Beaver's Dime Store, Nekoosa, for $25.  Tickets at the door are $30.  Special table pricing is available this year - $125 for a table of 8.

Must be reserved and paid for in advance by calling Historic Point Basse at 715-459-1722.  This is the main fundraiser of the year and something you won't want to miss!
