Live Music @ Hoozels at the Lakes: Corey Lane

  • 1497 Alpine Drive Nekoosa, WI, 54457 United States (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

For this aspiring songwriter and country music artist Corey Layne, traditional country music runs in his veins. Corey is a third-generation musician, born and raised in the foothills of the Cumberland Plateau in East Tennessee. Since he was young, his desire has been to bring ‘old style’ country music back to life and perform on the Grand Ole Opry stage like his grandfather before him.

Corey began singing for audiences at five years old and began dabbling with writing in his early teens. In 2003, he won an international singing contest held at the RCA Dome in Indianapolis and by 2010 he was traveling around the world. A few years later, he signed his first record deal. His vocals are the real deal & his true passion is and will always be soulful country music.

Live Music @ Hoozels at the Lakes: Jackson Taylor

Jackson Taylor grew up in Medford, Wisconsin and currently resides in Weston, Wi. He covers early to mid 2000's country music along with many originals. With a unique acoustic driven country sound, his sound is inspired by country artists Jason Aldean, Riley Green, & Canaan Smith. Releases like his single “Painting Pictures.” (2022) tells a Romantic love story of him and his wife’s journey along with his upcoming Nashville Produced “If I Knew (What I Know Now)” (April 2024) telling stories of some of those harder times, and trials a relationship can bring.  “Out Here” (2023) & Up coming late fall 2024 single “Stay The Same” is a true description of what Jackson is all about, growing up in rural northern Wisconsin, having a coonhound and being the car guy he is. Much of Jackson’s writing is influenced by his life, his passions, his wife, and family. “Back Pew Praying” (an unreleased song as of now) also touches on some trials and addictions one might have with their faith & battling with any type of addiction, or struggle along the path. Jackson’s Live Acoustic Show covers the Midwest in mainly Wisconsin with 85 different venues and close to 175 shows in 2023. Jackson has also performed in Midwest surrounding states Minnesota, Michigan, Iowa, Indiana, & Ohio, on occasional out of state tours.

Live Music @ Hoozels at the Lakes: TJ Morrow

Born in the west in the state of Oregon. Raised in the sticks somewhere between Forest, Langlade and
Oneida counties in Northern Wisconsin.  The outdoors is a way of life. Always has been.   Learned to hunt and fish at an early age and working outside of the classroom was expected.  A Crandon Cardinal grade schooler, Antigo Red Robin high schooler and Bethel Royal college athlete, with plenty of learning lessons and life changing moments in between.

You might find some of Tj's early musical influences in his debut album 'Live and Learn'.  AC/DC's Angus and Malcom Young's guitar tones flooded his childhood and teenage years and Rob Thomas' vocals and Matchbox 20 lyrics haven't left his head since Yourself or Someone Like You album hit the shelves back in 1996.  You could find Eric Church and Dierks Bentley CDs in Tj's 2001 F150 back in high school.

Live Music @ Hoozels at the Lakes: The Kommissioners

More to come ... but in the meantime ... If you remember these guys from almost a decade ago, they are reuniting. The vocal and musical talent from these 4 guys is insane!!

These guys cover great artists from the 70s like the Guess Who, the Beatles, the Bee Gees and Led Zeppelin. But they've also got some awesome originals too. Each member of The Kommissioners brings their own style and influence to this group which so far has produced great music both on stage and also in the studio. In 2016 they released one of the best original albums to ever come out of Wisconsin Rapids-"Whistler's Brother" and this year will follow with "The Loneliest Monk."

Live Music @ Hoozels at the Lakes: TJ Morrow

  • 1497 Alpine Drive Nekoosa, WI, 54457 United States (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

Traversing the Trails: Van Kuren Recreational Trail RESCHEDULED

We're starting a new program for the first Friday of the month! Did you know we have TONS of FREE trails in Rome? That's right, whether you're new to the area or a local resident, there's plenty of places to explore. We'll be picking a trail each month to hike and we invite community members to join us.

This months trail hike will be the Van Kuren Recreational Trail! Plan to meet at 10:00 AM at the point/near the observation tower.

The trail is just over 3 miles long and we'll stop 3-4 times throughout the route to talk about the native landscape as well as a bit about Rome.

Helpful Hints:

-Dress in layers, in case we get "spring" weather.

-Bring water!

-Wear sturdy shoes for wet/snowy hiking conditions.

(Yaktrax or Crampons may be helpful for icy patches)

We hope to see you there!
